Andrew Eidson began training in Judo in 1992 while in junior high. The sport became an instant passion in Andrew's life. He enjoyed the discipline required, the strategy of the movements, and the art of the take down. In 1999 he grew interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and met the famed 4th degree Carlson Gracie, Otavio de Almeida Jr. and black belt Paulo Fernando, who he began studying with. Recognizing Andrew's potential, Paulo invited Andrew to train at his academy. Paulo personally instructed Andrew, showing techniques passed down from Carlson Gracie and Otavio de Almeida Jr. themselves. Quickly advancing in skill and belt level, Andrew made a name for himself and was invited to train at numerous prestigious gyms in Sao Paulo, Brazil including the Yamasaki Judo Club and Godoi. At these gyms, Andrew had the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest legends in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu including Carlson Gracie Sr., Flavio Behring, and Roberto Lage. After only a few years Andrew was recognized as one of Paulo's top students and began to instruct classes at the academy. Continuing the important tradition of passing his knowledge and skills to future students, Paulo trained Andrew to instruct students so that he could form one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo gyms in San Diego County.
Andrew Eidson was one of only two students to receive their black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo from Paulo Fernando. Andrew tested for his Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu in Sao Paulo, Brazil and is registered under the Federacao Paulista de Jiu-Jitsu.
